The artisan

Beginning in Brighton, England, where I grew up, I have always enjoyed creating things with my hands as well as with my head.

I learned a lot about masonry and painting in England.

After I moved to Ithaca in 1980, I developed my carpentry skills and more besides.

LET ME PUT MY SKILLS TO WORK FOR YOU.

Stairwell barrier: aluminum and steel cable
I also laid the tile, trimmed the window, and installed the green sconce.

Kitchen end counter: cherry, oak, maple, steel

I also laid the tile and the oak floor.

And I installed the cabinets.

As musicians have a ‘first’ instrument, so do I enjoy wood.

Along the way, you will see I’ve learned to appreciate and work with many other building materials.

Staircase: concrete, steel and maple

Ferrocement staircase: steel rebar, mesh, mortar
And I put up the cedar clapboards

Garden gate: oak, cedar

Table or bench: Cuban mahogany, maple, walnut
